To import images from scanners or digital cameras, use TWAIN modules or Photoshop Acquire plug-ins (Macintosh). Images imported into Fireworks from a scanner or digital camera open as new documents.
On the Macintosh, to use Photoshop Acquire plug-ins in Fireworks, you must do one of these things during or after installation:

Install the Photoshop Acquire plug-in in the Fireworks 3\Settings\Xtras folder. |

Install the Photoshop Acquire plug-in in the Photoshop Plug-ins folder or in another folder. In Fireworks, choose File > Preferences, click the Folders tab, and choose Photoshop Plug-Ins. Then click the Browse button, and navigate to the folder containing the Photoshop plug-ins. |
To import an image from a scanner or digital camera:
1 | Connect the scanner or camera to your computer. |
2 | Install the software that accompanies the scanner or camera. |
3 | In Fireworks, choose File > Scan and choose a TWAIN module or Photoshop Acquire plug-in that corresponds to the device from which you are importing an image. |
For most TWAIN modules or acquire plug-ins, additional dialog boxes prompt you to set options for the module or plug-in. | |
4 | Follow instructions and apply settings. |
The imported image is opened as a new Fireworks document. | |

Note: Fireworks cannot scan images unless the appropriate software drivers, modules, and plug-ins have been installed. For specific instructions about installation, settings, and options, consult your documentation for the TWAIN module or acquire plug-in.
